Subject: Re: England v Italy review Trevor Francis was laying into Matty on the TV too BUT: He played well! Some nice confident touches...nearly scored twice and was certainly more of a threat than Shearer or Macca (both of whom I like). No England player had more shots and I think him and Macca were both subbed simply because we had to try something else but his control in the box and snap shot were excellent (right in the corner) but so too was the block. As Hoddle said if either chance had gone in (and it was bad luck in both cases) everyone would have said how well he'd done. At least Hoddle seems to have things in perspective! Tried calling your mobile when I heard he was in...It's a long and tortuous road for our hero but by France next year I'm convinced Matty will finally be recognised as a national hero! Lloyd
