The Property

Chez Paris is a comfortable, spacious stone farmhouse on a smallholding with poultry, sheep, cats and dogs. Located in a peaceful hamlet surrounded by woods and fields. The small town of Couhe is 3km away and has shops, banks and restaurants. Chez Paris is the ideal base from which to discover the delights of this little known part of France.

The Area

The area is steeped in history with many sites of historic interest to visit from the Abbey of St Savin with its rare 12th century frescoes to the world War II memorial in the village of Oradour sur Glane. There are also numerous Roman sites to visit locally in Rom, Civray and Charroux. Horse riding, rambling and golf are all nearby. Rivers with many water activities are also within easy reach. We are ideally situated for visits to "Futuroscope" a theme park of moving images, Cognac with its famous brandy houses, La Rochelle with its working harbour, shops and many seafood restaurants, the historic cities of Poitiers, Niort and Angouleme, plus many other places of interest to suit all tastes.

Places of Interest

Poitiers:- 20 minutes. Founded by the Romans, the historic city of Poitiers is situated on a rocky plateau above two rivers. This ancient, lively university town is full of art and history.

Futurescope:- this unique worldfamous theme park near Poitiers, is a vast science and technology centre which has an impressive variety of audio-visual, interactive and virtual reality experiences which enable you to discover images like you have never seen before.

Cognac:- 90 minutes. Above all the valley of the Charente is famous for its brandy. Cognac is a beautiful town with the famous distillery houses of Camus, Martell, Hennessy, Remy, Otard all open to the public.

La Rochelle:- 90 minutes. Historic Atlantic coast harbour, famous for its wartime exploits, old harbour and its seafood. It's a haven of style, street life and lively quayside markets. There are many fine sandy beaches and sideside resorts located around La Rochelle.
